Hendricks had a no-decision against Atlanta on Friday (5 IP, 3 ER). He beat the Giants (5.1 IP, 3 ER) earlier this month. He’s 4-4 with a 4.43 on the road. The Giants are 5-19 against him. Belt is 1-2 with a HR.

Peavy lost to Pittsburgh his last time out (6 IP, 4 ER). He also took the loss in the game he started at Wrigley (5 IP, 2 ER). He’s 2-2 with a 4.13 at home this year. The Cubs are 24-102 (.235) against him. Coghlan is 4-13.

Pittsburgh lost to the Marlins yesterday, which puts us 2 games behind them for the first wild card spot. WIth Bumgarner and Kershaw looming, this is a big game.

Go Cubs!

r.soriano joins iowa to rehab. a.russell returns and playing SS. deno playing CF...rest for fowler, not injury (claimed, anyway).

If you think Castro is hot, I'd rather him lead-off. He hits into too many double plays. And wouldn't we want someone on base for Schwarber? I don't get it.

David Ross away for 3-7 days, family medical issue. Should get more details later. Szczur called up. Schwarber leading off with Fowler getting a day off. That's a mad scientist kind of lineup.

Crunched it. Ianetta, lead off double in 9th the good news is...Goldschmidt solo HR, Dbacks 1-0 over Stl

and Bonifacio singles, steals 2nd and scores on a Javy Baez single. Baez is 2-4, 2 rbi and 1 K. Iowa won 3-2 Almora 2-4 with a double, HR and 4 rbi, Vogelbach with a Vogelbomb, also 2-4

What happened with Schwarber leading off tonight? I only have Gameday and it says "Kyle Schwarber doubles on a pop up to pitcher Jake Peavy." Can anyone fill in the details?

Well, game 29 on the year was a hell of a game. That felt like a throwback, too. I had a feeling Morel had a shot at catching up to that fastball.

MIL out here stealing 3rd with 1 out and down by 1 in the bottom 9th.

it worked.  this MIL team is annoyingly fun to watch so far this year...

it took him 24 pitches, 2 walks, 2 Ks...but he got it done.  woo.

neris still doesn't have his command/control...

i don't expect it to dog him all season, much like i don't expect alzolay to be a HR machine.

i'll take alzolay over neris to close out a game, though...over leiter, too.

MOREL HR!  his first homer in like, 3 years or something...or feels like it.

top of the 9th, 2 run shot off f'n diaz to break the tie.
