Game 63 Threa...Dear God, 100 More Games of This Sh**?!?!?!

The Cubs go for the series win behind Travis Wood. The Tigers counter with Justin Verlander. Over/under on Verlander K's at 11. Over/under on hits for the Cubs is 2. Take the over on the K's and under on the hits. Hell, perfect game #23 doesn't sound too unreasonable.

In roster manuevering, Koyie Hill was DFA'd to make room for Luis Valbuena on the 40-man, who was called up to take the place of Ian Stewart who went on the disabled list to rest up his ailing wrist. And Welington Castillo was activated as well and should certainly see his share of starts before Geovany Soto is ready, which should also be rather soon.

take insurmountable 1-0 lead on 2-out double by Fielder on a 1-2 count.

flies to center. They should make him do push-ups.

has had the best AB's of anyone today...and some of the worst baserunning. Although with 2 outs and top of order due up, that would be the time to try and stretch it, but not even close.

#Cubs‬ sign 4th-rder Josh Conway for $280k (pick value=$343,200). ‪#CoastalCarolina‬ RHP had 94-96 FB, nasty SL before TJ surgery. ‪#mlbdraft

"#Cubs vs #Tigers drew 124,782, largest mid-week three-game series in Wrigley Field history. " where the hell did all these DET fans come from anyway? i'd hear cheers, look up, and it's because DET is doing something good. it's like they decided to do some weird flashmob on wrigley.

i 100% agree with you, but i dunno how jed wants to run things.  the default is delay.  i would choose brown.

like hellfrozeover says, could be smyly since he's technically fresh and stretched.

anyway, on a pure talent basis....brown is the best option.

Use pitchers when you believe they're good. Don't plan their clock.

I'm sorry. I'm simply anti-clock/contract management. Play guys when they show real MLB potential talent.

If Brown hadn't been hurt with the Lat Strain he would've gotten the call, and not Wick.

    Give him a chance.

    But Wesneski probably gets it

    alzolay...bro...

wow.  what a blown call.  go cubs, i guess.

neris is good for 70-ish appearances and having him throw 89-91mph fastballs was something i was not looking forward to for 70-ish games.

his splitter today was ranging 82-83mph...also a bit faster than spring performances.

    Holy shit this umpire sucks

However, all is forgiven when his suckiness works in favor of the Cubs.

Neris must have been sand-baging spring training. He's a veteran, so he knew what he was doing. Had me fooled to be honest. Glad I was wrong.

  • hellfrozeover (view)

Looks like he might the cliche veteran pitcher in spring not really ramping it up and just “forking on stuff” in spring. If he gets to 94 on the regular he’ll do just fine.

  • crunch (view)

topped out a 94mph, threw 4 of those.  feeling a lot better about neris.

  • crunch (view)

neris has thrown 2 pitches at 93mph out of his first 5 pitches.  that's a positive turn.
