Smokies facing off versus Danny Hultzen, 0 H through 3 but walks to J. Lake and L. Watkins. Lake caught stealing though. Scoreless through 3, Brooks Raley going for Smokies.

why in the hell wasn't garza bunting on the 1st pitch with a man on 1st, 0 out, and down by 1...especially if they wanted him to finish the ab bunting...i hope someone missed a sign and it wasn't just creative managing. some of this aggressiveness is odd. -edit- and of course johnson follows with a double leaving barney at 3rd... -edit- and runners stranded, 3 outs, cubbery

my god. matt garza just cannot throw the ball to 1st after fielding. i cannot believe we're in year 2 of this...it's mindblowing.

Stepped away to take care of crying newborn, so missed the last two innings. Did Garza get hurt? Or did they take him out for being at 93 pitches?

ARam just misses a HR, as his double hits the yellow line in CF and bounces back in...but drives in Braun after a walk. Marmol tweaks his ankle or knee when his landing foot catches a clete on the mound. Throws a few practice pitches and gets taken out of the game. Michael Bowden in.

STRIKE OUT, WILD PITCH, RUNNER SCORE, CASTRO SAFE AT 1st 6-5 CUBS! 2 outs, top 9. unf. also, lol K'ing on a wild pitch...dude, wtf?

Bob sez...that was a bonehead play by Izturis, running right into Stewart's tag on a grounder to third. Cubbery from ex-Cubs too.

They won those trades and sacrificed their culture. That’s exactly their problem.

The other part that’s kind of crazy is they made two very high profile trades, one for Goldschmidt and one for Arenado, and they very clearly won those trades. They just haven’t been able to develop players the last handful of years the way they usually do.

I guess the moral there is it’s hard to stay on top of your game and be good at what you do in perpetuity.

Marmol was extended at the beginning of the year. Two years I believe.

Craig Counsell doesn’t have a timetable for Cody Bellinger who technically has two cracked ribs on his right side. CT scan showed it today.

Thought it might have been David Peralta given the open 40 man spot and how PCA has played so far.

I hope they keep Mozeliak a few more years. Marmol too!

wow, counsell coming with the early lineup.  rarity.

    PCA called up.

    welp...

    bellinger...fractured rib.

a not-very-ready PCA will probably be called up when it would be much better for him to be in AAA getting regular ABs.

i have no hard data, but i'm seeing the same thing.

there used to be some parks where that was rampant (colorado during the todd helton days comes to mind), but i'm seeing it all over the place the past couple seasons.
