the one they call Crunch

I am here to formally let you know of your nomination for our Grand Tournament of Douche for the actions of: 1. Acting as a self appointed PC morality officer 2. Threatening to mess with somebody's job like its any of your fucking business 3. Bragging about said cowardly actions 4. General Douchebaggery Good luck in the tourney, with your pedigree I'm sure you will go far

congratulations on having this name registerd for almost 3 hours now and already annoying everyone. Seriously, all of this contributes nothing to the discussion.

In reply to by WISCGRAD

He has only been here for 3 hours. Many people here have been around for years and have yet to contribute anything

In reply to by dylanj

hey, please stop calling crunch a self appointed douchebag. for the record all of us regulars here on tcr appointed him. he is our douchebag and only we are allowed to call him out. we love you crunch, you ole douchebag!

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

It doesn't appear you give a shit what anybody says. You're making quite a leap to call yourself an adult, what with the productive work you're doing promoting a douchebag-off. I'm sure your folks are proud. Go waste your time somewhere else. We all know how tough you are now. Just don't type anything else and hurt our feelings. Yes, it's the internet. No, we can't stop you. Do what you will.

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

Oh i get it. Nobody understands what a douchebag is so you're doing us a public service by showing us what one is. Thanks man! We needed that as badly as hemorrhoids after an eating binge.

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

Hmmm... and people know who you are? I know... the six people who comment over at ACB know you - congrats on that though. And now you have had your 15 minutes of TCR game... now go away.

[ ]

In reply to by big_lowitzki

I love how this guy's argument centers around how many people know who you are, when we all use pseudonymns specifically so that people don't know who we are. But if he's referring to gaining some sort of fame around Cub-related blog circles, I'll pass. I'd like to think the TCR community would rather talk about baseball than count the number of "lulz" we get or whatever it is trolls like dylanj use to keep score on how cool they are amongst the other assfucks who actually give a shit about that kind of thing. Reason 1b why this is the only Cubs board I visit. (1a being jokes about Johan's mom, of course)

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

I don't care who 'knows' me, unlike you. Again, take your ego back to wherever you need to stroke it. We don't care.

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

do you really want to taunt me? i mean, you guys have families and stuff. remember...i'm a douche. now leave. geez. go be with your families. you don't want any part of a pissing match. it's just not worth it. you shouldn't troll where people don't want you to nor care who you are, who your friends are, or what impact they may have on the online or real world. it's just stupid. i know i don't care about any of you. *shrug* go play elsewhere.

[ ]

In reply to by crunch

i will taunt you all day long until Rob G bans me. And then I will make a nice donation so this blog can stay open a few more days and just come back and if you want my work email just ask, my boss would get a bigger kick making fun of your bitch ass than I am. Oh and my wife thinks your a fucking pussy as well so calling her wont work either (waits for some SACR poster to make a comment about said wife)

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

maybe im not going to screw with you...maybe i'll screw with your friends. you don't make the rules here. =p silly internet dweller. game on.

[ ]

In reply to by crunch

You're still threatening people on the internet by contacting employers, wives, and friends? Is that your thing? Seriously? An adult who tells on others. Priceless.

[ ]

In reply to by Maddog

actually, i just scared you into actually showing up here. this is more of me screwing with you. been reading the thread on your blog. there's 100 ways i could play you. don't be threatened, maaaaaaaang. my thing is making you guys sweat cuz i can, i guess. who called who out? :) seriously...go play elsewhere. you suck at this game. btw, this doesn't make me cool. it just makes you stupid. this is nothing to me but a bunch of text on the screen. i'm not the one who goes around acting like the jackass of the internet and thinks they can do whatever they want without someone else doing whatever they want back. it's a game. you got played. welcome back, btw.

[ ]

In reply to by crunch

Crunch, you do realize that anything you can do, i can do. The difference between us is that I'm not a cocksucker who thinks telling on someone is something to be proud of. I'll give you my email, my employer, and anything else you want. If that's what makes you feel big and proud, then I'd be glad to contribute. Especially because the laughs I'd get from it would be well worth it. Not sure how "I got played" but I'm pretty sure you don't know what the fuck you're talking about anyway.

[ ]

In reply to by Maddog

no, you cant. see, i know personal stuff about you...you don't know anything about me. besides all that, NONE OF THIS MATTERS. i did the above to get a rise out of you when your mouthy friend assumed he cashed a check he couldn't cash and reported back to you on your blog (which ive been folllowing with great amusement) and low and behold...here you are. :D and now you're ranting like a lunatic. bravo. now take a deep breath...realize this doesn't mean anything...and then get on with your online life. me and you...there is no me and you. at least you know how you got here now, though. NOW GO BACK TO YOUR F'N HUGBOX!!!

[ ]

In reply to by crunch

Interesting. You make threats with regularity and then when people call you out on those, you pretend you didn't mean it. So sometimes you're just douchebag and other times you're just a coward? Good to know.

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

On my keyboard there is a key right next to the enter button that does this '. Most people use this key betwixt the "I" (notice the clever use of capitilization) and the "m" when typing "I'm." Just thought I would try and help you out a bit.

[ ]

In reply to by Hawkeye

you want to try and use the spelling/capitilzation approach i already called dips so you need a new form of attack friend

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

1. We are not really friends, but thanks anyway. 2. I believe that it is known as "dibs," not dips. 3. Said ownership is in forfeit if the owner displays an astonishing inability to make use of said "dips." 4. How drunk are you?

[ ]

In reply to by dylanj

"it KINDA seems like you care alot Chris- do please dont type anything else because you cant spell and dropping as many swears as possible doesnt help disprove the allegations that you are in fact retarded" There's five spelling errors, three usages errors and three punctuation errors in that 'sentence'. Also, no one has made an allegation that he was retarded, so there's also what I think is properly known as a 'crackhead' error. If one typo makes you a retard, I guess dylanj, by his own standard, is around amoeba level intelligent. He seems to even have asexually reproduced a clone named 'Maddog', so maybe this amoeba theory has some validity.

WTF? anyway...back to baseball. through the first 2+ innings, Cubs have swung at 15 of 19 pitches so far, taking exactly 1 called strike. Team seems in a hurry to get to bed tonight

While I'm at it: Fuck you ESPN TV Guide says it's on ESPN MLB.com says it's on ESPN ESPN had a fan vote that resulted in the Yankee game being on and not the Cubs Worst part - I tuned in a 7 for a pregame show that welcomed me as a Cub fan. Then the Brett Favre horse shit, then other news, no Cubs - but wait - a Cubs update on the sidebar. So I say, Fuck You ESPN

Gallagher only had 22 walks in 58 IP with the Cubs, has 19 in 25 IP for Oakland other than that's not very good, I wonder why that happens...I'll blame it on the DH, or the mound in Oakland, or the pitching coach or Michael Barrett.

found this on a brewers blog: Saw it on the MLB.tv feed The Reds broadcast had it live—Parra and Fielder walking down the dugout side by side, obviously disgruntled with each other. Parra said something, whipped his jacket (I think?) in Prince’s direction, Prince flipped out and shoved him right onto the bench hard, then a bunch of dudes stepped in between to break it up.

it's those dopey Cincy announcers...one was Thom B. they refuse to acknowledge the existence of a Chicago NL franchise, must have a thought process like this: Brewers just lost 4 home games to Gotham City from that Batman Dark Knight movie...hence, the Mets. Brewers @ Mets April 11 (L 2-4), 12th (W 5-3) and 13th (W 9-7) ...the Brewers play the Mets in Milwaukee Sept 1-3.

Did Ringo shout that at some later point in the recording of Helter Skelter? ========== Nope. That's a Prince Fielder agonal scream after bitch slapping Manny Parra.

top 6: Gaudin pitching: CLee K Pence P4 Wigginton BB Erstad FC 6U rain delay must have been 2hrs around 40 min (don't have the exact time) Tim Burdyk on for the strohs

Lance Berkman took off his gold necklace because he was afraid of Thor's Hammer. Wussbutt. That said, it does sound like there is lots of activity in the skies.

rain delay #2, they got the tarp on due to lightning/thunder that had Berkman running off the field with the camera on Johnson pointing at Berkman while talking to DLee after Berkman jumped; quite the crashing thunder/light show before the rain actually restarted. vs. Hawkins one out (soriano K'd on a neck high fastball) fontenot up with an 0-1 count...

I don't think any of the above conversation makes either side look very good. Although if there was truly racist crap on that site then Crunch has every right to let everyone know about it. Writing stupid crap behind anonymous handles is a childish way to go. By the way, I came upon this blog which is so not me: http://johanndropsablog.wordpress.com/ Kind of odd to see more then one Johann blogging on the Internet. He's more conservative then me though. And he hasn't done Carlos' mom.

hmmmmmmmmmmm so what do you guys think about manny in dodger blue he had a big weekend? speaking of manny (trillo) wheres he been ? how bout a fire jim hendry for old times sake

[ ]

In reply to by rokfish

Well, Manny in Dodger Blue doesn't help the Dodgers much, since they are now benching Ethier in favor of Pierre. I remember when Torre turned down the big contract extension from the Yankees and everyone was saying what a great manager he was. I don't know if he's any better than Dusty. There's certain a lot of evidence to point to the fact that he's not. Haven't heard from Manny since I've been back. I think he doesn't like it when the Cubs are winning. The Cubs got shut-out last night, because of that crappy team that Hendry put together. Starting Dempster in a game that we clearly needed to win, can't be Lou's fault, because he can only play the pitchers he's given to work with. Plus, how did we not add a left handed bullpen presence, or a replacement for Marmol in the 7th/8th at the deadline? A good GM would have done that.

Valid points on all fronts. However there seems to be an all around better sense of urgency to repair holes that need repaired. No longer do I worry that if any starter gets hurt. It opens up an everyday spot for a Neifi Perez. Never EVER during the McFail regime did we go out and target front line free agents of any kind. The free agents we targeted were always either the 3rd tier. Jack Jones, Todd Walker, Julian Tavarez, Shane Andrews, Willie Greene type guys. Or injury rehab projects like Wade Miller, Shawn Estes and Mike Sirotka. In Two years out from under the McFail watch and we have signed Soriano,Ted Lilly,Kfuk, and Ponied up for Aram after stupidly letting him go to Free Agency. Now Baltimore seems to be stuck in the paralysis by analysis mode that always hampered the cubs. All of this leads me to believe that AZ Phil was on to something. Maybe McFail really was the main culprit in the Cubbie struggles of the last Decade.

Hoffpauir now hitting .357 - .381 - .709 (that .709 slugging is even higher than Dubois') at AAA. Koyie Hill actualy up to a respectable .291 - .356 - .507

Yeah, K Hill realized that he was leaving his "make 'em pitch 5 mph faster" switch on while he was batting, too. Once he realized that, he feels like he has time to scratch his balls before he needs to swing...

There are two clear "logjams" in the Cubs minor league pipeline at the present time, namely AA outfielders (K. Alcantara, C. Franklin, Roederer, Pagan, Pinango, Beesley, and Nwogu) and Hi-A infielders (J. Rojas, P. Ramirez, Howard, R. Morel, Pertuz, R. Garcia, and Spence, although Morel has been getting a lot of reps in the outfield in addition to infield). So it is possible that you might see a trade involving one of the extra outfielders at AA and/or one of the extra infielders at Hi-A in the next few days.

  • Arizona Phil (view)

18-year old SS Jefferson Rojas almost made the AA Tennessee Opening Day roster, and he is a legit shortstop, so I would expect him to be an MLB Top 100 prospect by mid-season.

  • Arizona Phil (view)

Among the relievers in the system, I expect RHRP Hunter Bigge at AAA Iowa and RHRP Ty Johnson at South Bend to have breakout seasons on 2024, and among the starters I see LHP Drew Gray and RHP Will Sanders at South Bend and RHP Naz Mule at ACL Cubs as the guys who will make the biggest splash. Also, Jaxon Wiggins is throwing bullpen sides, so once he is ready for game action he could be making an impact at Myrtle Beach by June.

  • Arizona Phil (view)

I expect OF Christian Franklin to have a breakout season at AA Tennessee in 2024. In another organization that doesn't have PCA, Caissie, K. Alcantara, and Canario in their system, C. Franklin would be a Top 10 prospect.

The Reds trading Joe Boyle for Sam Moll at last year's MLB Trade Deadline was like the Phillies trading Ben Brown to the Cubs for David Robertson at the MLB TD in 2022.

Javier Assad started the Lo-A game (Myrtle Beach versus Stockton) on the Cubs backfields on Wednesday as his final Spring Training tune-up. He was supposed to throw five innings / 75 pitches. However, I was at the minor league road games at Fitch so I didn't see Assad pitch.

they really tried to make it happen this spring, but he put up a crazy bad slash of .081/.244/.108 in 45PA.

Here are the Cubs pitchers reports from Tuesday afternoon's Cardinals - Cubs game art Sloan Park in Mesa:

    SHOTA IMANAGA
    FB: 90-92
    CUT: 87-89
    SL: 82-83
    SPLIT: 81-84
    CV: 73-74
COMMENT: Worked three innings plus two batters in the fourth... allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits (six singles and two doubles) walked one, and struck out six (four swinging), with a 1/2 GO/AO... he threw 73 pitches (52 strikes - 10 swing & miss - 19 foul balls)... surrendered one run in the top of the 1st on a one-out double off Cody Bellinger's glove in deep straight-away CF followed one out later by two consecutive two-out bloop singles, allowed two runs (one earned) in the 2nd after retiring the first two hitters (first batter had a nine-pitch AB with four consecutive two-strike foul balls before being retired 3 -U) on a two-out infield single (weak throw on the run by Nico Hoerner), a hard-contact line drive RBI double down the RF line, and an E-1 (missed catch) by Imanaga on what should been an inning-ending 3-1 GO, gave up another run in the 3rd on a two-out walk on a 3-2 pitch and an RBI double to LF, and two consecutive singles leading off the top of the 4th before being relieved (runners were ultimately left stranded)... threw 18 pitches in the 1st inning (14 strikes - two swing & miss, one on FB and the other on a SL - four foul balls), 24 pitches in the 2nd inning (17 strikes - three swing & miss, one on FB, two SPLIT - six foul balls), 19 pitches in the 3rd inning (13 strikes - seven swing & miss, three on SL, two on SPLIT, one on FB - three foul balls), and 12 pitches without retiring a batter in the top of the 4th (8 strikes - no swing & miss - four foul balls)... Imanaga throws a lot of pitches per inning, but it's not because he doesn't throw strikes...  if anything, he throws too many strikes (he threw 70% strikes on Tuesday)... while he gets a ton of swing & miss (and strikeouts), he also induces a lot of foul balls because he doesn't try to make hitters chase his pitches by throwing them out of the strike zone... rather, he uses his very diverse pitch mix to get swing & miss (and lots of foul balls as well)... he also is a fly ball pitcher who will give up more than his share of HR during the course of the season...

    JOE NAHAS
    FB: 90-92
    SL: 83-85
    CV: 80-81
COMMENT: Was called up from the Hi-A South Bend group at Minor League Camp for the day... relieved Imanaga with runners at first and second and no outs in the top of the 4th, and after an E-2 catcher's interference committed by Miguel Amaya loaded he bases, Nahas struck out the side (one swinging & two looking)... threw 16 pitches (11 strikes - two swinging)...

    YENCY ALMONTE
    FB: 89-92
    CH: 86
    SL: 79
COMMENT: Threw an eight-pitch 5th (five strikes - no swing & miss), with a 5-3 GO for the first out and an inning-ending 4-6-3 DP after a one-out single... command was a bit off but he worked through it...

    FRANKIE SCALZO JR
    FB: 94-95
    CH: 88
    SL: 83
COMMENT: Was called up from the AA Tennessee group at Minor League Camp for the day and worked the 6th inning... got the first outs easily (a P-5 and a 4-3 GO) on just three pitches, before allowing three consecutive two-out hard-contact hits (a double and two singles), with the third hit on pitch # 9 resulting in a runner being thrown out at the plate by RF Christian Franklin for the third out of the inning...

    MICHAEL ARIAS
    FB: 94-96
    CH: 87-89
    SL: 82-83
COMMENT: Was called up from the AA Tennessee group at Minor League Camp for the day and allowed a hard-contact double on the third pitch of the 7th inning (a 96 MPH FB), and the runner came around to score on a 4-3 GO and a WP... gave up two other loud contact outs (an L-7 and an F-9)... threw 18 pitches (only 10 strikes - only one swing & miss)... stuff is electric but still very raw and he continues to have difficulty commanding it, and while he has the repertoire of a SP, he throws too many pitches-per-inning to be a SP and not enough strikes to be a closer... he is most definitely still a work-in-progress...

    ZAC LEIGH:
    FB: 93-94
    CH: 89
    SL: 81-83
    CV: 78
COMMENT: Was called up from the AA Tennessee group at Minor League Camp for the day and tossed a 1-2-3 8th (4-3 GO, K-swinging on a sweeper, K-looking on another sweeper)... threw 14 pitches (11 strikes - one swing & miss - eight foul balls)... kept pumping pitches into the strike zone but had difficulty putting hitters away (ergo a ton of foul balls)... FB velo is nowhere near the 96-98 MPH it was a couple of years ago when he was a Top 30 prospect, but his secondaries are better...

    JOSE ROMERO:
    FB: 93-95
    SL: 82-84
COMMENT: Was called up from the Hi-A South Bend group at Minor League Camp for the day and worked the 9th (14 pitches - only six strikes- no swing & miss) and allowed a solo HR after two near-HR fly outs to the warning track, before getting a 3-1 GO to end the inning... it was like batting practice when he wasn't throwing pitches out of the strike zone...
